Store each piece of jewellery separately to avoid surface scratches. Always take off your jewellery before going to bed in order to avoid wear and tear. As silver naturally oxidises when exposed to air, moisture and skin contact, take off your jewellery before exercising. If possible, avoid contact with water, body lotions, hairspray and perfume. To prevent tarnishing, use the enclosed polishing cloth to gently wipe silver jewellery after wearing as the accumulation of body oils, cosmetics and grime can cause the jewellery piece to lose its shine. In case of heavy oxidisation, polish the affected areas using a silver cleaning solution.
Vermeil refers to sterling silver jewellery that is plated with a thick layer of gold. It results from electroplating of the silver base with liquid gold - a process that uses electric current to bond the two metals together. As it contains two precious metals - gold and silver - vermeil jewellery is considered to be of particularly high quality while at the same time being an affordable alternative to solid gold. Whereas simply gold-plated jewellery uses a lower-quality brass or copper base, vermeil uses a high-quality silver base.
